Specs Tagline: 5.1-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution screen; Octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset; Wireless Charging; 3GB RAM; 2,550mAh non-removable battery; Android 5.0 L with TouchWiz; Samsung Pay; IR Blaster.
Samsung Galaxy S6 doesn’t need any introduction. It’s a Samsung’s new flagship with Premium design, high end Octa-core Exynos processor, 3gb of ram and Brilliant display. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has an impressive look, which includes a well-built metal frame and a smooth glass back. It’s a big improvement over the previous typical plastic material.
Samsung Galaxy S6 has a great and beautiful design. Phone is slightly slimmer and lighter (0.27 inches thick and 4.9 ounces) than Galaxy s5 and heavier than iPhone 6. The ability to add external storage and removable battery has been removed. Sides are covered with aluminum alloy bands and front and rear covered with gorilla glass 4. Phone is available in several cool colors including Gold and Black Sapphires and despite the name of color its not sapphire material it’s actually a gorilla glass 4.
Everything from the corner edges and thin buttons is noticeable. Volume and power buttons are made of thin metal. The most awkward replacement that Samsung did is speakers that are at the base of the phone instead of back. The fingerprint feature copied from Apple is actually useful as of unlocking process not quite as fast as the iPhone but it’s still worthy.
The Galaxy s6 has one of the best display ever seen on Smartphone. 5.1-inches with 2560 x 1440 pixels Quad HD premium display on the Samsung Galaxy’s S6 is extremely stunning. Pixel density of 551-PPI is sharper than LG’s G3, brighter and vibrant than HTC’s One M9 and looks closers to the iPhone 6(Plus).
Super AMOLED screen technology in the Samsung Galaxy S6 is the improvement over the previous flagship Galaxy S5, produces deep contrast (dark are darker and light are lighter)and saturated colors. Screen looks sharp and brighter from every angle.
The main difference between the S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is only a screen. Galaxy s6 Edge’s screen has the same size as Galaxy S6 but it curves around two sides and not much more than that. You will have to pay extra $100 (not much worthy) for only two irregular curves.
Samsung Galaxy S6 has the best camera in any android Smartphone. The Galaxy S6 is equipped with 16 Megapixel Sony Exmor RS IMX240 Sensor with F1.9 Aperture(maximum), Optical Image Stabilization Automatic Real-time HDR and IR detect white balance and 4K video in LED Flash. It also has a 5 Megapixel front selfie camera.
Camera has basically two mods “Auto-Mod” and “Pro-Mod”. Auto-Mod handles itself very well and shoot anything in excellent quality. To take some DSLR level professional photos there’s also a Pro-Mod feature which gives you more manual controls and camera presets, you can play with Manual Focus, Manual Exposure and much more to take some stunning photos.
Camera is very fast and based on “Tap and Shoot” mentality , opens in literally under a second by double tapping on a camera button. Layout is simpler than previous flagships. Photos looks very great, crispy and have beautifully detailed stuff. Low light exposure is normal, not better than Nokia’s Carl’s Zeiss. It can also record 4K videos smoothly and shoot in slow motion and fast motion.
Software & Performance
The performance is generally very impressive. The Octa-core Exynos processor of Samsung Galaxy S6 is signicantly faster than any other flagship like HTC M9 and iPhone 6. Samsung, first time decided to use it’s own Exynos chip for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Galaxy S6 arrives with android 5.0.2 and latest version of TouchWiz Ui with best features include S Finder by which you can find files, apps and menu items by typing keywords.
In terms of benchmark results that we have taken, on Geekbench 3 the Galaxy S6 performs very well and accomplished an awesome score of 5122 which is far better than HTC One m9(3815) and iPhone 6(2922) out of the league The gaming performance in Galaxy S6 is outstanding with high-graphics games like Asphalt 8: Airborn and Ripetide 2 running like a pro, no single lag or frame drop can be experienced.
Battery and Charging
Last year’s flagship Galaxy S5’s battery life was very efficient but Samsung had to reduce the battery capacity to make the S6 slimmer than S5. Some new and useful battery features included such as, Quick charge ability which give you a 30 percent charge in just 15 minutes and 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. One more cool addition is wireless charging feature.
