top 10 shooter games2011 definitely is a great year for shooter fans. And the best thing is – there is fun to be had for any taste (except if you hate the figure 3 maybe …). Since it is really hard to think of a way to rate released and coming games properly, they will be impartially presented alphabetically:

Battlefield 3

If you love massive battles on vast battlefields, guess what: Battlefield 3 is your game. Breath taking graphics, realistic destruction, strategic approaches and solid teamplay are the corner stones for EA’s attack on the shooter throne.

Bulletstorm

Over the top action, gameplay that rewards you for killing enemies creatively and a cliché ridden story – perfect ingredients to have some dumb fun, am I right? Bulletstorm is the right game if you just want to blow off some steam in the form of violence and messy kills!

Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3

We knew this was going to be big but few could of predicted over 1 million people would queue up at games stores in the US and UK to be the first to get hold of COD modern warfare 3: It features an epic singleplayer campaign mode full of intense action that could stem from Hollywood and, of course, hours upon hours of multiplayer fun which will keep Call of Duty fans bound to their console for months.

Crysis 2

If you fancy different approaches to mission objectives in an almost open world setting, Crysis 2 is the game for you. As in its predecessor, the graphics are unbelievable and the possibilities are seemingly endless: You can play as Rambo or as Solid Snake – the choice is yours!

Duke Nukem Forever

Admittedly: Duke Nukem Forever’s position in this list is arguable – but let’s be honest: The terrific anachronisms, the richness of ideas in the levels … they are unique in today’s games. And who wouldn’t want to capture babes?

Gears of War 3

Markus Fenix is back, and he is angry once more! Finally, Xbox 360 players can kill lots of Locust as frantically as tactically again. This time, Epic Games even gives us a four player coop mode! And it will be possible to kill those fragile humans as the Locust horde in multiplayer in the brand new Beast mode and the revamped Horde mode.

Homefront

This start of a new franchise has set new standards in serious story-telling. Walking through mass graves of killed civilians and the harsh battle for survival carries a dark tone which has not been found before in video games. If you want to find some relief, you can always opt to play the tactical multiplayer.

Killzone 3

The latest instalment of Sony’s leading shooter franchise is set to end the war between the ISA and the Helghast. Once more, players can fight brutal battles in the singleplayer campaign (this time offline split-screen is in as well) and in various multiplayer modes this time even with move control.

Rage

Rage seems to be the love child of Borderlands and Fallout. Add some toys like remote controlled toy cars carrying explosives, lots of different ammunition, some insane arcade racing (with machine guns, of course) … and as result, you have a great new shooter experience!

Resistance 3

Can humanity strike back against the vile Chimera threat? Resistance 3 will answer this question and will give the PS3 once more an excellent shooter! Experiment with new weapons and toys to kill and maim your enemies in the epic campaign or online in brutal multiplayer battles!
